Terms, Privacy & Refunds
Last updated: October 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and YAK Publishing ("we", "us"), the business that runs the website at yakai.biz. "You" means the person using the site.
Terms of Service
- The service. YAK Publishing helps you transcribe recordings, edit the text, and typeset and publish it. Access is by approval; we may approve or decline requests.
- Your account. Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens in your account. One person per account.
- Your content. Recordings, texts and sefarim you upload or create remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service to you. Only upload material you have the right to use, and get permission from the speaker or rights holder where needed.
- Automated editing. Transcription and editing are done by automated tools and can contain mistakes. Always review the text, especially sources, names and halachic content, before publishing. You are responsible for what you publish.
- Plans, packs and balances. Plans renew automatically until cancelled. Each plan's monthly amounts reset at the end of each monthly period; unused monthly amounts do not carry over. Extra packs do not expire while the service operates. Transcription is counted in whole minutes of audio (rounded down, at least 1 minute per recording), editing in words of the text being edited (express editing counts double), and publishing in pages of the finished file, including front pages and the cover (2 pages).
- Templates. Sefer templates and layouts may be previewed on screen. Files in a template are available only by publishing with page credits. Don't try to copy or extract template output without publishing.
- Fair use. Quick tools (such as Ask SI and help) have a daily limit. Don't misuse the service, overload it, resell access, or use it for anything unlawful or unfitting for a Torah setting.
- Payments. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
- Changes and availability. We may change prices or features; changes to your plan's price apply from your next renewal after notice. We try to keep the service running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we're not liable for indirect losses. Our total liability is limited to what you paid in the last three months.
- Ending. You can stop anytime. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. After a plan ends, your work stays read-only and downloadable (as Word, text or a simple PDF) for at least 6 months, after which it may be deleted with notice.
Privacy
- What we keep: your name, email, a securely hashed password, the files you upload and create, and records of your usage and purchases.
- Who processes it: files are stored on our servers at Amazon Web Services (USA). To provide the service, recordings are sent to our transcription provider and texts to our AI provider; they process them for us and not for their own purposes. Payments are handled by our payment partner; we never see your card number.
- What we don't do: we don't sell your data or show ads, and we don't read your sefarim except when you ask for help or to fix a problem.
- Security: connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and data is backed up daily for 14 days.
- Your choices: you can download your work and ask us to delete your account and files at any time by contacting us.
- Cookies: we use one cookie to keep you signed in, plus a small setting for your language. No tracking cookies.
Refunds & cancelling
- Cancel anytime. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then stops renewing.
- No refunds. Payments for plans and packs are not refundable, including for unused amounts, except where the law requires it. Your statutory rights, and the refund terms of our reseller Paddle.com (paddle.com/legal/refund-policy), are not affected.
- Packs you bought stay yours after cancelling and can still be used.
- Billing problems (for example a double charge) — contact us and we'll fix it.
